"The Codenomicon tools are amazing. Using them is like being attacked by the most relentless adversary who uses every possible method to find flaws in your code

We fixed subtle crash bugs in Samba that had been in the code for over ten years. We would never have found those bugs without the Codenomicon tools.

If you're serious about implementing protocols correctly, you need the Codenomicon tools."

Answers to the 4 most frequently asked technical support questions

  1. Make sure you have Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0 update 6 or newer installed before attempting to install or run Codenomicon test tools.

  2. If using a test tool that performs raw IP or Ethernet socket communications (e.g. OSPF, ARP, IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, ICMP, IGMP, PIM, RSVP, GRE, DVMRP, IS-IS, etc.), make sure you have libpcap (Linux) or WinPcap (Windows) installed and that you are running the test tool as root (Linux) or Administrator (Windows).

  3. Use valid-case instrumentation, if available. If valid-case instrumentation is not available in the test tool, use external instrumentation. Instrumentation is necessary to check the health of the implementation after each test case.

  4. Read through the test tool documentation. It is lengthy but rewarding.
