Answers to the 4 most frequently asked technical support questions
- Make sure you have Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0 update 6 or newer installed before attempting to install or run Codenomicon test tools.
- If using a test tool that performs raw IP or Ethernet socket communications (e.g. OSPF, ARP, IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, ICMP, IGMP, PIM, RSVP, GRE, DVMRP, IS-IS, etc.), make sure you have libpcap (Linux) or WinPcap (Windows) installed and that you are running the test tool as root (Linux) or Administrator (Windows).
- Use valid-case instrumentation, if available. If valid-case instrumentation is not available in the test tool, use external instrumentation. Instrumentation is necessary to check the health of the implementation after each test case.
- Read through the test tool documentation. It is lengthy but rewarding.
