CODENOMICON ADDS DISTINGUISHED CYBER SECURITY EXPERT, SOFTWARE INNOVATOR AND ENTREPRENEUR TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
R&H Security Consulting President and CEO Howard A. Schmidt and Wind River Chairman, President and CEO Ken Klein Strengthen Board's Security Software Knowledge
SAN JOSE, Calif., and OULU, Finland - January 05, 2008 - Codenomicon, Ltd, today
announced the appointments of security expert Howard A. Schmidt, president and CEO of R&H Security Consulting LL, and software industry
veteran Ken Klein, chairman, president and CEO of Wind River to the Codenomicon Board of Directors.
Schmidt brings more than 40 years of experience in corporate security and defense, including serving as the
Special Advisor for Cyber Security at the US White House. Klein has had a distinguished 20-year career
successfully building startups into software powerhouses. In his current leadership role at Wind River, Klein
continues to drive the market shift from in-house development to commercial software adoption.

In addition to Schmidt's service at the White House, he served as vice president and chief information security
officer and chief security strategist at eBay and as chief security officer for Microsoft Corp. He retired from
the White House after 31 years of public service in local and federal government, which included being appointed
by President George W, Bush as vice chair of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board and
special adviser for Cyberspace Security for the White House in December 2001. He is regularly featured as a
cyber-security expert on various international media outlets including ABC, CNN, CNBC, and Fox TV, Schmidt is
co-author of "The Black Book on Corporate Security" and author of "Patrolling CyberSpace, Lessons Learned from a
Lifetime in Data Security".
Prior to Wind River, Klein served as chief operating officer and a board member of Mercury Interactive. At
Mercury, he led the team from a pre-revenue startup into a software powerhouse with a peak market capitalization
of $15B and 2,150 employees, as well as operations in 35 countries and membership in the NASDAQ 100 and S&P 500.
He grew the company to nearly $1B in annual revenues before it was sold to HP for $5B. A USC Distinguished
Alumnus, Klein is also a member of the USC School of Engineering Board of Councilors, and founder of the USC
Engineering Klein Institute of Undergraduate Engineering Life. His other board member positions are with
AmberPoint and Tumbleweed Communications.
