He has also held CEO positions for startup companies that include IntelliSearch and Computas, along with serving as chairman of Active ISP. An experienced entrepreneur, David founded InfoStream and led the company through a successful IPO in 1999.


Rauli Kaksonen

Rauli Kaksonen, Founder and Fellow

Mr. Rauli Kaksonen is a founder and fellow of Codenomicon. He has developed security and robustness testing methods in academic and commercial settings since 1999. Before founding Codenomicon, he worked as a Researcher at VTT Electronics, Technical Research Centre of Finland. Mr. Kaksonen is a Master of Science and Licentiate of Technology from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Oulu University.


Ari Takanen

Ari Takanen, Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Ari Takanen is a founder and CTO of Codenomicon Ltd. He is a distinctive member of the global security testing community and a regular speaker at various testing and security conferences. His professional background is on academic software security testing research, where he has been active since 1998.


Mikko Varpiola

Mikko Varpiola, Founder and Test Suite Developer #1

Mikko Varpiola is an expert in anomaly design, security vulnerability discovery, and unknown vulnerability management. He is a world-renowned expert on how to make software/firmware/hardware fail. Before founding Codenomicon he was a key researcher at the globally recognized security research group, Oulu University Secure Programming Group (OUSPG). He actively participates in the development of secure programming practices and automation of software security testing. His contributions are integral to the development of practical implementations of generation-based fuzz testing software. Recently Mikko has focused his efforts on Codenomicon’s Fuzz-o-Matic Testing-as-a-Service (TaaS) platform and on research how into testing instrumentation to reliably detect vulnerabilities in real-time.

Mr. Ira Winkler, CISSP is Chief Security Strategist at Codenomicon. He is considered one of the world’s most influential security professionals, and has been named a “Modern Day James Bond” by the media. Mr. Winkler started his career in the National Security Service and has since held distinguished positions in both industry and academia. He is the author of the influential books Spies Among Us, Zen and the Art of Information Security, Corporate Espionage and Through the Eyes of the Enemy. He is also a columnist for ComputerWorld and writes for several other industry publications. Mr. Winkler has featured in several magazines and newspapers including Forbes, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post, Planet Internet, and Business 2.0. He has also won prestigious industry awards, including the Hall of Fame award from the Information Systems Security Association.
